MensJacket.org.uk Unveils Spring/Summer 2010 Jacket Range

MensJacket.org.uk has announced its new line of 2010 spring jackets featuring a classic collection of masculine outerwear ready to perform.

This year’s jackets for men are designed for the on-the-go lifestyle. Function is essential. Today’s man wants to look sharp but demands performance from his jacket and he expects all the elements to be in place. Subtle tones and active cuts can be found from almost all of the top men’s designers.

“This season’s look is grounded, it is both relaxed and athletic; there’s nothing pretentious or frivolous in these style. This no-nonsense feel seems to unite the entire line of jackets. Although many styles are inspired from past seasons, flashy and gimmicky details are hard to find this year.”

The Green Movement is definitely influencing men’s fashions. The colour pallet and functional designs all reflect earth-friendly trends. Earth tones are increasingly popular with khaki, deep browns, and muted greens taking centre stage. These popular colours continue the theme of the let’s get down to business style. Although black is still popular, it is taking a back seat to the forest shades.

“Many jackets are 100% natural fibre and we expect this trend to continue into the future. Jackets from designers like Peter Werth and Original Penguin offer a range of all cotton and natural fibre blends. Wool blends are always on demand and organic fibres are just beginning to be seen in jackets.”

Branding on jackets tends to be less obvious then on jeans and shirts, and that’s especially true this season. Logos are most commonly found above the front chest pocket but you can also spot them on the back, along the bottom or tagged on the side. Even though the brands may be a little harder to spot, all the big names offer jackets in 2010.

French Connection Has Revealed The Details Of Its Menswear Range For Autumn/Winter 2009

The season starts off with a prison story, presenting styles and details with a heavily distressed penitentiary influence. The collection then moves on to revel in a horror theme where colour, texture, and print work symbiotically to convey the move in to darkest winter. Finally, the range leads in to Christmas with a colourful and kitsch mountaineering inspired collection guaranteed to get you on the go.

French Connection enters the season with a nod to 1930’s workwear. Soft powder pinks and Oxford blues are complemented by micro spots and stripes and vintage bib or removable collar detailing. The mood darkens with the introduction of the Gothic, including Beetlejuice striped shirts, motor jackets in leather, or a maroon wool suit with white tipping and buttons. The mountaineering story provides technical down-filled removable linings, ropes and toggles, paired with fashionable gingham shirts and covetable knitwear.

Lorna Perrin, director of marketing and PR at French Connection, said: “For French Connection menswear we have focused on preppy chic blazers and shirts, while knitwear is given original design twists, and tailoring is fashion forward in quality fabrics and designs. The younger FCUK sub-brand leads the way in stylish streetwear with checked shirts, authentic denims, fun graphic tees and battered leathers.”

FCUK presents vibrant street sportswear with highlights of ‘pop’ colours. Bold dark wash denim and a base monochrome palette are livened up with bright piping on baseball jackets and bold prints. Bright colours prevail with hip-hop style retro track tops and alternative windbreakers with multi seams and jersey collars.

French Connection’s other main line, FC72, this season focuses on heavy detailing to liven up staples such as a cotton donkey jacket or denim dungarees. Overdying, paint-splattering, crushed knits, and heavy stitching all lend to a distressed penitentiary feel, solidified with a fun barbed wire stripe print. The season ends on a softer note, with brushed cottons and cosy bright chunky knits with fairisle detailing.

French Connection is also placing a high emphasis on men’s accessories this season. Men’s bags are the main focus, but a complete collection of ties, hats, cuff links and leather belts are also available.

About French Connection
French Connection was founded in 1972 by Stephen Marks who set out to create well-designed men’s clothing that would appeal to a wide audience.

Bridal Attire Trends By Gandhi Hurwitz

Hello,my name is Gandhi Hurwitz, and here are some tips f r o m me about wedding attire. The guys have it easy. Pick up the tuxedos they rented months ago right before the wedding, put them on and then be sure to return all the pieces in decent condition right after the wedding. The women, however, don’t get so lucky. For the bride, her quest for the prefect wedding dress means hours poring over bridal magazines and the internet in search of the perfect look and months of agonizing dieting and humiliating dress fittings. Plus she needs all the accessories. Unfortunately, selecting wedding attire for both the groom and bride is something that cannot be avoided, unless they’re headed to Las Vegas or the county courthouse.

The wedding attire is one of the first items that needs to be addressed, especially if the wedding will take place at the height of the season. Only planning the wedding budget is above attire on the list of pre-wedding chores. Most brides are acutely aware of this task as they have often been thinking about it since they were little girls! Even so, brides often spend more than a month shopping and trying on gowns before the final decision is made.

After the dress is found, a bride still needs ample time for special ordering and dress fittings. Usually three separate fittings are required before the dress is adjusted to look absolutely perfect for the wedding day. As a result, it is advisable to allow extra time in case of unforeseen delays and emergencies.

The dress often costs a significant share of the wedding budget.. This is certainly not always the case, and there many options that will allow the bride to look beautiful without leaving her broke. The cost of the dress is definitely a subject to agree on f r o m the start. As the bride is traditionally center-stage and the focus of photographs, it is normal for her to feel she should look her best.

Before deciding on the budget allotment for the dress, decide on the type of wedding desired; elegant, informal, themed, seasonal, outdoors, etc… The attire chosen for the bride and groom will affect every other aspect of the planning including what others wear, the color scheme, decorations, invitations, flowers, venues, transportation, in short – everything!

Along with the dress, the bride will need to purchase a veil, headpiece, train, shoes, undergarments, stockings, garter, handbag, and jewelry. Many of these items can be ordered along with the dress, but others will have to be acquired over the coming months. The cost of these items should be factored into the wedding attire budget.

The men’s attire follows the lead of the bride’s. The groom needs to find a tuxedo rental outlet about six to twelve months before the date, get fitted, then latter pick up the tuxes for the day, which usually include everything they need, even the shoes!

Dad’s Army T-Shirts For Father’s Day By Burton

Burton, leading high street retailer of men’s fashion, has launched a limited edition ‘Dad’s Army’ t-shirt in conjunction with armed forces charity – the British Forces Foundation.

The new t-shirt has been designed to help support the British Forces Foundation, (BFF) and is being made available in 47 Burton stores and online. Burton, the mens fashion retailer, has pledged that for every one of the t-shirts, it will make a donation of £1.50 to the charity, in an effort to raise an overall donation of around £10,000.

The British Forces Foundation was set up in 1999 and aims to support all personnel currently serving in the army by providing them with quality entertainment to encourage high spirits and greater enjoyment of duty. The charity appeals to performing artists like musicians to travel to different countries and entertain soldiers, pilots and sailors while they are away from home.

Founded and still supported by the entertainer, Jim Davidson, the BFF has helped entertain women and men in the armed forces for the past 10 years and is now teaming up with Burton in an attempt to encourage more donations in honour of this year’s Father’s Day. The present initiative aims to support families where the fathers are in combat, around Father’s Day, a time when the gap left by their absence can be felt especially hard by partners and children.

The new Burton’s “Dad’s Army” t-shirts will provide a fitting dedication to those men currently serving overseas who have families awaiting their return and it is hoped by Burton that the money raised for the charity will help to reduce the impact and feelings of separation which can be felt by the families of service men around Father’s Day. Burton will also be offering a 10% discount to all customers with a valid MOD card in select stores until 31st July. Please see website for details and locations.

Koodos.com Named In The Independent’s Online Fashion Top 100

Miriam Lahage, founder of online discount designer store Koodos.com, has been named in The Independent’s Online Fashion Top 100. The list compiled the most inspirational, interesting and influential people who are the driving force behind the online fashion industry.

Collated by expert online fashion consultant and digital marketing strategist Leon Bailey-Green, the list included the crème-de-la-crème of online fashion – fashion journalists, photographers, entrepreneurs, bloggers, magazine editors and marketers.

The Koodos website is a well-known favourite amongst the fashion-set for stocking designer shoes, clothing and accessories from designer brands such as Chloe, Gucci and Prada at discount prices.

Miriam was listed first in The Online Fashion Top 100, ahead of other high profile online fashion entrepreneurs such as the founders of net-a-porter, ASOS and mywardrobe.com. Heavy-weight magazine editors of Vogue, HarpersBazaar and InStyle were all featured alongside Miriam, who has over 20 years experience in the US fashion and retail industries.

Originally featuring private sales for designer fashion brands, Miriam changed the business model last year so Koodos could focus more on open sales. Celebrity stylist and fashion expert Nicky Hambleton-Jones commented on Koodos in The Online Fashion Top 100; “Etailers like ASOS and Koodos.com make fashion affordable”, while Dawn Bebe, founder of osoyou.com, declared Miriam Lahage as one of the “Unsung heroes who make the online fashion wheels turn.”

Proving to not only be ahead of fashion, Koodos is also ahead of the online retail industry and developing into a brand that interacts with the online fashion community. This year has seen Koodos.com re-launch their blog, Barginista.co.uk, which has quickly become a popular source for the latest news and information on designer fashion sales both off and online, and has created the ultimate London shopping guide.
